2022 Year End Review: So, thought I would give a 2022 year end review of the FishSkiff16. My original review when I ordered and after I had taking it to the coast fishing is in the previous reviews. So, I have taken the FKS16 to the coast in April and October for a month each time. I pull a fifth wheel camper and folding and storage is the main reason for my purchase. The boat fished flawless with absolutely no complaints. Since we Camp right on the sound, putting the boat in and taking out was easy with the two wheel cart I purchased from Sea Eagle. I purchased a 6HP Mercury for the skiff and so far it’s worked perfect with the boat allowing us to go in as little as 6” of water as advertised. We fished the sound going out 4-5 miles. Fishing 5-6 hours very comfortably and never feeling unsafe even in choppy waters. Unfolding and folding was easy with my wife helping. (Storing in the rear seat of my Chevrolet 2500). Sea Eagle is a top notch company and actually cares about their products and customers.
Thank you for the excellent review!
so far so good. i only have been on the water once with it. hoping this year will allow for more time on the water. deffently want to get the sun shade for it.
The boat is terrific. Get the electric pump, I have found that the provided hand pump is ideal for inflating the side chambers. It takes 10 minutes to inflate the main air chamber. While the main chamber is inflating, inflate the side chambers to about 2 pounds of pressure. That leaves enough flex to allow lining up the rear transom and the aluminum board in the bow, that supports the electric trolling motor.
show full review ▼I could not be more pleases with my purchase of this boat. We camp with a 5th wheel so needed something portable for fishing trips. I thought this might be a compromise for a fishing boat. I was wrong it is like having an inflatable bass boat. With the solid floor that you can stand up on and the pedestal seats this is one great fishing boat. Thanks for a great boat and customer service before the purchase helping me pick the right boat for my needs. Bob
Lake Pend O'Reille in N. Idaho is where we live/boat. We had a 12' aluminum fishing boat/trailer with a 15 hp motor chosen to allow our teenage grandkids to use, and smaller for storage, but we found it was unsafe on a 30 mile long lake that can get rough quickly. While RVing in NW Montana I saw one of these FSK16 Sea Eagles with a 5 hp motor being used on the Kootenay River. I talked to the individual and determined this was a great little fishing boat, light, safe, comfortable, and good speed with a small motor. I ordered a FSK16 and then found/bought a nearly new 8 hp Tohatsu 4-stroke motor...and my Sea Eagle arrived yesterday afternoon. I assembled it without trouble, but found my electric pump would not pressurize above 4 psi, also one of my seat frames was not constructed correctly. I called Sea Eagle this morning and was told to send photos documenting the problems. I just received confirmation that the replacement parts are being shipped. Will update after use. Great boat & customer service!
What a great boat! Every time I am putting it in or taking it out of the water folks with a kayak will stop me and ask about my boat. Then they see me roll it up and put it into my truck under my tonneau cover and they are blown away. The boat, trolling motor, seat, battery and all my fishing gear stay in the back of my truck all year. When I am ready to go fishing I just take off, no loading and strapping down my kayak and no hitching up a trailer. To be able to sit or stand and then to be able to walk around keeps me on the water all day. Talk about stability! I use the whole boat to fish from, I can take a step back and set a hook without the feeling of falling out of the boat. The flat bottom and the rugged hull allows me to get way back into the smallest creeks to find the big ones. The paddle allows me to creep into spots so I don’t spook the fish, heck most fish have no idea I am there until my shadow hits them. To say I love this boat is an understatement.
I have the fishing Skiff and Canoe. I have had the skiff for over 3 years now and words cannot describe how much I have enjoyed this boat. I have modified modified the front seat as a casting chair with the foot control trolling motor. It is very easy to travel with. This has allowed me to travel to many different lakes in many states. I have even had the boat a couple of miles off shore in the Gulf of Mexico. But I am as equally impressed with the customer service as I am with the boat. I had an issue with the boat that after searching the internet appeared to be pretty rare. I reached out to customer service and the response and action that was taken completely surprised me. In short, Sea Eagle stands by there products.
I am officially of retirement age, and not as strong as I once was. So I find the FSK16 plenty heavy, but on a dolly it is very easy. I also have the Easy Cart from Sea Eagle, but most of the time the dolly is even easier, and that is how I store it - strapped to the dolly. My inspiration for an inflatable is I just have a 20 year old Camry. So I added a cargo carrier on the back and that makes transporting the FishSkiff a breeze. I use both the an electric pump on the bottom, and then a hand pump on the two sides and I find I can pump up the sides in the time it takes to pump up the bottom. It seems sturdy and rugged. In a wind, you can get pushed around as there is no keel or rudder in the water, but even with my 3HP electric outboard I can cruise a fishing lake at about 5.5mph. I may want to raise the height of my seat one day, but the seats are comfortable. I took the precaution of rein-enforcing the underside of the seat with a good amount of epoxy - I am not small. Over all - thumbs up.
My friend and I both have the FSK16, and we are both really impressed. We use it primarily on the Little Red River in AR, and it is perfect. Well thought out, stable, and plenty of room for 2 fishermen. The only question is how long it will hold up, but for now, 5 stars for sure.
I have owned the FSK16 nearly two years. I got the Green Machine package but upgraded to the WaterSnake Advance brushless electric motor of 70-lb thrust. It pushes my FSK along at 5mph at 3/4 throttle; which tht close to the water is moving along briskly. That came with the solar panel that has worked flawlessly. I also got the canopy with custom grommets for the solar panel. I also added the third seat. This is my second Sea Eagle. The first was a grey foldcat 375. The FSK16 has met and exceded all expectations so much so that I have outgrown it. I will be selling it soon and based on the attention it gets at the ramp, it will probably go for top dollar. My next Sea Eagle will be the FC14.4. The seats are more separated and it will more closely simulate the enjoyment I got on a pontoon boat. I strongly recommend Sea Eagle and their sales staff (especially Silvia) was a joy to work with.
