We use our 420x for mostly flat water kayaking. We wanted a bigger boat that could easily carry 2 adults, 2 dogs and gear. The 420x Explorer is a well made, tough and very stable kayak. Looking forward to many years of trouble free adventures.

This is my 2nd Sea eagle 420x. (Raccoons chewed my first). While living in Moab, UT, I took the 420x out on the Colorado river twice a month for years. Sometimes 3 person day trips, and 2 person kayak camping with no support craft. No problem putting a tent, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, full size (soft-sided) ice chest, small propane cook stove, first aid kid... It's a Cadillac. No problem standing up in the raft, it has been down class IV rapids in Westwater canyon. Now that I live in Nebraska, there is no whitewater, so I bought the row package this time. The only complaint I previously had was that it felt a bit slow...but I didn't buy it for speed, I bought it because of the room and 855lb. weight capacity. But once you put oars on a kayak...you'll be leaving a wake. On flatwater, I can row faster than hard shell kayaks can paddle. And I still have the option to increase weight capacity but lower my speed if I take it on a multi-day trip on a river when I move back to an area that has mountains.

Love it! My wife and I are not experienced yakkers, but we are having so much fun exploring beautiful Arizona lakes in this easy to transport easy to set up boat. We bought the pro carbon package with the lighter weight paddles and upgraded seats. With the electric air pump that was a promo item at the time of purchase, it takes less than 2 minutes to fill the each side chamber to 3psi, and a just a little longer to fill the amazing drop stitch floor to 10psi. Flat water only thus far, but we’re looking forward to kayak camping/fishing along the slow moving water of the Colorado River south of the Glen Canyon Dam to Lee’s Ferry.

From the very start of the process, you have been out standing. The kayak is wonderful, paddles great and with all our stuff and dog etc. It couldn’t be better! We take it with us RVing and really every where we go. We’ve paddled the Silver River meant times, Salt Springs, Crystal, Hunter Springs, Withlacoochee River and many lakes between here in central Florida to lake Story Galesburg, Ill. It always Gaines attention and lots of questions. Great product! We have a kayak group from our Church and another person has sold there kayak and bought a 300x. Loves it!
