I did a lot of research on inflatebale kayaks befor I bought these (I bought 2 of them). I absolutely love these things. I have been on up to class 4 rapids and also taken a nap in it on a high mountain lake. They are so versatile and easy to transport. I would recommend a Sea Eagle kayak of this caliber to anyone looking for a durable inflatebale.
This boat is a delight with one exception. First the good. I find the 380X to be well constructed, easy to stow away and quick to set up (I was lucky enough to get the electric pump as a bonus when I ordered). I store the kayak on my sailboat and took it to the Bahamas this last winter where it served as a second dinghy as well as a craft for exploring the coastline and get plenty of exercise.show full review ▼
We always recommend rinsing the kayak with freshwater after use in very salty water. This will help avoid any build up over time. Please email email@example.com or call 1-800-748-8066 and our customer service team can help.
I purchased a Sea eagle 380X kayak around 10 years ago. Last year I started having issues with it due to aging. I purchased a new one few months ago because I am very satisfied with its quality and features.
Great kayak! Large enough to fit two adults and a small child (3-year-old boy). Extremely stable and excellent for building confidence with less experienced boaters. Planning to buy either a 300x or a 350fx once our son outgrows this arrangement.
Great overall boat. After having a 370 and enjoying it for 4 years I upgraded to the 380X. I have yet to take it into whitewater but it has and does everything it is advertised as. The quality is outstanding the seats are super comfortable. It is very easy to assemble and break down. I highly recommend this kayak to anyone who wants a great overall kayak. Time will tell on its overall durability. Looking forward to a long relationship.
I can only provide feedback on service and delivery and quality as we have not tried it yet. I commend you all on your order, delivery and service. This kayak is easy to
Inflate both manually and with the electric pump. As for the pump it would be great if there was an adapter for AC option. Based on my examination of the 380x it’s really well put together. Once we take it out for our first excursion will let you know how it handles. Btw, we also have the electric motor to try also. I purchased two deep cycle batteries 20 and 30Ah. I’m looking forward to determining how long I can run the water snake on the batteries.
I just took out my Explorer 380x for first time. I have been trying to decide should I purchase one for over a year, so i pulled the trigger.
I have been kayaking for many years in a hard shell kayak. My wife is not able to paddle any more, the securing of the boat to the car and lifting the kayak to the roof was becoming a hassle for me. As a result I stopped kayaking. I am in my 70's so I was looking for a solution because I wanted to get away from the masses on shore.
My biggest fears were inflating and deflating. I purchased the electric pump w/battery and it works great! Deflating was easy also. I chose carefully where I inflate and deflate. so that when it is folded, I do not have to carry the folded kayak. show full review ▼ Just lift out or back in.Just lift out or back in.
Easy to pack and unpack. Handles great.
This is a replacement for a 2000 vintage Sea Eagle. Loved the 1st boat & am enjoying this new 380X. We're "senior citizens" yet still find the boat easy to store, inflate, haul & paddle. Had it in the water twice so far: on flat water on the Comal River in TX & expect to have it on Class I, II & maybe III's on the Gunnison River in Colorado in a few days. Did not have a scag on the 1st boat & have not tried the scag on this new one. Bought the axle/wheels to make hauling the boat over longer distances. Love the portability & the way the boat handles.
My husband and I (age 60ish) have taken our new kayak out on a local lake twice now. The keel helps to propel the boat into the water easily, but we will need the shorter keel if we take it to shallower river water. It is easy to set up and take down and very stable in the water. We have found that we do need to turn it over and allow it to dry well before folding it back up for storage. The towel does not sop up water that get's trapped in little nooks. We did get the manual standing pump with it but after using it once, we decided to make a separate purchase for the battery operated pump - it makes life easier. One other suggestion. Plan on purchasing a kayak cart as the kayak alone weighs 40 lbs. Once you add seats, paddles, life jackets, water, food, etc. for easy transport, it gets heavier. With a good cart, one person can move the kayak on their own. We are looking forward to new adventures with our 380x this summer. Teri - Evergreen, CO
