473rl RazorLite™ Inflatable Kayak Reviews

We absolutely Love 473rl !!! One we get in and settled, we’re off for a super great paddle. We live 3 minutes from Hermon Pond, show more... and love to be on the water in a matter of minutes. Unfortunately, my husband recently passed away so I may be looking at a smaller SeaEagle kayak for myself. I love ALL the SeaEagle products, the customer service is top notch and shipping was a breeze. Thank you for creating such a superb product.

We are loving the Razorlite Tandem. Easy to store when not in use. Easy to transport when we go camping. Easy to setup when we show more... get to out destination. And it is fast! We have a blast just paddling around the lakes. I have even used to to fish on several occasions.

Have only had it out a couple of times, but we love it. easy to blow up, easy to portage, stable in the water, easy show more... to fold up and stow in our RV, planning a lot more outings in the coming years

Great boat. Very easy to set up and pack up. We have used it in rivers, lakes and bays and it performs great in all. show more... Highly recommended!

We have only had the boat a week and a half but have used it nearly every day since we bought it. We wanted a show more... boat that would be easy to paddle against strong currents and wind but were worried it might be too tippy. We are happy to report it was not. Fast and or streamlined boats will naturally be more tipy than those that aren't. For those not planning to paddle against strong current or wind, don't care how fast their boat is, and who value stability over all else may be better served by another boat. We had previously owned a Sevylor and a Air Head inflatable and this boat is so much easier to paddle we end up going longer distances and against currents that would have made us turn back with other boats. Not only that but it is faster and easier to paddle than our Mad River Adventure and Old Town Scout which are both hard boats. We needed an inflatable for storage reasons and that it could fit in the trunk of our Mustang convertible.

Highly recommended! Quality and functionality well worth the price. Have used it for 2 years now on lakes and rivers in WI. Also have 2 show more... sit-in hard sided kayaks so it’s a great addition and adds flexibility to our “fleet”. Some very minor observations/recommendations. Due need to be more careful in shallow water with hard plastic skeg. May consider getting a spare one just in case of damage. Worried about long term durability of the plastic air pump (red version) especially with the quarter turn hose connection, but nice with the dual action. With our fill values in the stern found it best to start folding up from the front to the rear to help get the air out of the chambers. (This is a very condensed version of a positive review)

Our kayak is now 6 years old. We took it on the lakes of Arkansas for multi day trips, then paddled over 100miles in it show more... from Key Largo to Key West in 9 days. This was made possible by the deck we built for the kayak, maybe an option sea eagle should develop? We now use it on the Mediterranean sea in France. It's a great Kayak, very well made. We had two small leaks in 6 years that we fixed, probably due to transport while folded. It is big enough to bring camping gear for multi days trips, Without a deck, it can take a lot of water in choppy conditions, so whitewater and waves have to be avoided. With the deck, we've kayaked in 3 to 4 ft swell without any problem Wind has a big impact on it. It does great facing the wind, but turns when the wind comes from the side. Really challenging when kayaking alone. A perfect boat for flat water! And for long distances, really fast for an inflatable (2.5 to 3mph) We have videos with it on our YouTube channel: fartherout to see it perform in real life

The 473rl , it took a little time to get used to getting the balance but after that everything was great easy to inflate with show more... a 12 volt pump which I highly recommend 👌, paddling is very easy then seaeagle had a article about a small 12volt motor 👍 I am all in on that it works great I highly recommend it worth every dollar, on letting the air out is ez but getting it into the bag 🎒 not ez they need to make the bag a little bigger please send me a larger bag it will make me very happy 😀 on the whole I have had six seaeagle boats and I think this is the best one. You can thank kyack cliff for my purchase because I always watch his reviews he does a very good job on how the boats operate well that's about it, I am a truly seaeagle person 😊

I got the tandem kayak for my wife and I and we've had it for a year. The tandem kayak is a little large and show more... awkward to carry in it's backpack on your way to water but it inflates easily and quickly, is incredibly sturdy when inflated, and we've had a blast. It handles much more like a hardshell kayak than an inflatable and stores away neatly. I would but this again

Having owned and used the Sea Eagle 473rl for 6 months now, I feel I can write a fair and honest review, starting first with show more... the pros. Fast delivery time. Superb customer service. Excellent engineering and build quality. The fact that my wife and I can kayak anywhere with any location accessible, due to this kayak's portability - is absolutely fantastic. Early on - we did have difficulty with installing and un-installing the footrests, and cleaning and folding up the kayak. However, after just a few times doing so, it all quickly becomes rather easy to do. First time out, kayak felt a little tippy, but we quickly settled into it, and found it to actually be quite stable. My only negative comment would be, after a couple hours paddling, I find the seat becomes rather uncomfortable. That can be resolved by adding a cushion or other padding onto the seat. With a 3 year warranty and 120 day money back guarantee trial period, I would highly recommend if you want to be able to take a kayak anywhere you want to.

When I first bought the kayak, I felt it was unstable because I had no experience. However, now that I've gained more experience and really show more... enjoyed using it

Hi guys, thanks again for checking in. I would like to thank you all for building a high quality inflatable. We spent 3 weeks in show more... southwest Florida in January paddling the kayak. It was very easy to inflate and install the seats. The footrest were a little more difficult to install but got easier with time. My wife and I had never paddled an inflatable before, within 3 mile we felt very stable and understood the concept. The next day we paddled 8 mile down the calosahatchee river, best time ever. We had some light chop in the open water but never felt compromised. I had a concern about oyster beds and possible damage to the hull but that was unwarranted. I did have trouble packing it back into the storage bag to original state but I managed. I loved the way it packed in our Jeep Grand Cherokee, took very little space. I look forward to warmer weather in Kansas and putting the boat back on the water. All and all, we love and look forward many years of paddling in the473rl. thanks again.

We love our 473rl! It's perfect fort travelling with our 5th wheel. We're not spring chickens, but paddling is easy for the two of us show more... even in a strong wind the low profile and skag make it easy to stay on course. Only regret is if we'd waited to purchase we would have gotten a free electric pump with it.

We received our kayak back in the spring. It arrived weeks before it was expected to. Our first voyage was great. I managed to miss show more... read the instructions and inadvertently cause a small leak. Sea Eagle quickly came to our rescue and repaired the kayak at no charge. Since then we have enjoyed many hour in several location and I am reminded to once again to carefully read all the instructions. The photos are from our recent excursion to one of our favorite pubs where when one paddles there, you get a but off you first pint. The Pour house, Port Townsend, WA, USA. This kayak replaces our SE 330, Still working well after 20 years. Now with one of our children.

Just finishing a trip to Bend Oregon, first summer with our 473rl. Did a 18 mile trip on the Deschutes River and some shorter lake show more... trips. My wife and I just love our kayak, we have had hard shells and one other inflatable, the 473rl is the best kayak we have ever used. Love the speed , finished the 18 mile river trip under 5 hours ( used to take 6 ). And the way we can get in and out of the boat very stable ( without failing in the lake or river ). Very easy to set up and take down and we can take all our gear. We are both in our sixty's........ Thank you for a great product

Everything about this kayak is quality. The first trip out we had multiple people come look at our kayak and each of them were equally show more... impressed. The razor lite took a few minutes getting used to but once we got the feel of the kayak it was simply amazing. I recommend Sea Eagle over all the other inflatable kayaks out there. Way to go Sea Eagle!

We bought this kayak last year to offset being isolated for C-19, what better way to be outside than on the SF bay every Sunday? show more... It's been great in calm and rough weather, it regularly sees 2ft swells out in the bay and when we can, we put the sail up and cruise (likely in higher winds than recommended). We ballast the front of the kayak with 3 x 1 gallon ziplock bags filled with water to offset our weight difference (I'm 120lbs heavier than my wife). We leave it inflated and haven't noticed any issues with doing that. Overall a great purchase!

First, a huge shout out to Sea Eagle for not raising their prices during the pandemic like other businesses. We have had our kayak out show more... many times on NC lakes and rivers. Initially, it felt tippy but once realizing it's quite stable side to side that disappeared. It is super easy to transport and within 10 minutes using the standard pump we're ready to hit the water. It also packs back down really fast. Drying out after use has also been easy. We plan to load it up for some barrier island camping this spring and summer. The engineering is very impressive. The hulls and rudder are a softer plastic so I just put black gorilla tape to help protect them from scratching. Finally, a shout out to a kind soul in Portland that has owned this kayak for years, created several complimentary youtube videos, and answered several questions before we purchased. Sea Eagle is a great example of a small company doing business the right way.

We have used the 473 RazorLite for one year now and it is truly wonderful. It is the fastest inflatable kayak we have ever used, show more... is nearly as fast as a hard shell kayak, tracks superbly and will accommodate 2 people with gear. We have used it in varying conditions, including 3-foot waves and winds to 20 knots. For training and safety, we have tested re-entry in 3-foot waves; it is easy to re-enter the boat if capsized (we recommend attaching the boat to your life jacket with a rope if there is heavy wind so that you are not separated from the boat, and having leashes for your paddles and scupper, the latter to remove the remaining water). In order to be fast, it has to be narrow (30 inches) and so it is a bit less stable than wide slower kayaks; you get to appreciate the speed and ease of paddle from its narrow hull. It is wonderfully light and easy to carry / portage. It folds easily and fits neatly in its bag opening endless possibilities beyond those of hardshell kayaks. Highly recommended.

For me this is a wonderful craft to share paddling with on flat-water lakes & rivers. It glides smooth & quickly. After paddling for decades show more... with hard-shell boats, I'm quite satisfied having one that transports easily & stores folded in a small space. The hull is durable and well constructed. Seats are easily adjustable and comfortable. This tandem is fairly stable and easily maneuverable with a little practice. Skeg is quite helpful when conditions are windy and choppy. Important to store safely from heat & rodents. I had to patch up a small hole where it had been chewed.
