473rl RazorLite™ Inflatable Kayak Reviews

We absolutely Love 473rl !!! One we get in and settled, we’re off for a super great paddle. We live 3 minutes from Hermon Pond, show more... and love to be on the water in a matter of minutes. Unfortunately, my husband recently passed away so I may be looking at a smaller SeaEagle kayak for myself. I love ALL the SeaEagle products, the customer service is top notch and shipping was a breeze. Thank you for creating such a superb product.

I have owned and enjoyed a Paddleski for 20 years now but wanted a faster tandem primarily for solo paddling. After watching Kayak Cliff solo show more... in a Razorlite, I figured a 473RL would be a great choice for both solo and tandem use. Solo I could not ask for a better boat, responsive and easy to paddle. With or without a skeg it was fine. When I tandem with my wife, we tend to putter about and see the wildlife and seldom go fast. This boat is not great at puttering about as each time you turn the boat does the primary tilt and it is not comfortable. It is not going to dump you, just when you are still the boat is not still. So we decided to send the 473rl back for the FastTrack 385. SeaEagle was super easy to work well on this trade. Love their customer service.

We are loving the Razorlite Tandem. Easy to store when not in use. Easy to transport when we go camping. Easy to setup when we show more... get to out destination. And it is fast! We have a blast just paddling around the lakes. I have even used to to fish on several occasions.

The inflatable that can hit oyster beds and keep on going!! Quick and nimble this kayak is. Been all over the Southern U.S. and glad show more... it is the BEST!!!

We are very pleased with our kayak. The 120 day trial was ideal to have a real experience before committing to such an expense. It’s show more... easy to transport and set up. The ride is smooth and mimics harder shell types. We stopped short of a 5 rating only because the storage and carry bag could be made a little larger so you don’t have to struggle to fold it and get it in the bag.

Such a great mobile kayak for our RV adventures.

Customer service was great and we love our kayak!!

Have only had it out a couple of times, but we love it. easy to blow up, easy to portage, stable in the water, easy show more... to fold up and stow in our RV, planning a lot more outings in the coming years

Great boat. Very easy to set up and pack up. We have used it in rivers, lakes and bays and it performs great in all. show more... Highly recommended!

We have only had the boat a week and a half but have used it nearly every day since we bought it. We wanted a show more... boat that would be easy to paddle against strong currents and wind but were worried it might be too tippy. We are happy to report it was not. Fast and or streamlined boats will naturally be more tipy than those that aren't. For those not planning to paddle against strong current or wind, don't care how fast their boat is, and who value stability over all else may be better served by another boat. We had previously owned a Sevylor and a Air Head inflatable and this boat is so much easier to paddle we end up going longer distances and against currents that would have made us turn back with other boats. Not only that but it is faster and easier to paddle than our Mad River Adventure and Old Town Scout which are both hard boats. We needed an inflatable for storage reasons and that it could fit in the trunk of our Mustang convertible.

Highly recommended! Quality and functionality well worth the price. Have used it for 2 years now on lakes and rivers in WI. Also have 2 show more... sit-in hard sided kayaks so it’s a great addition and adds flexibility to our “fleet”. Some very minor observations/recommendations. Due need to be more careful in shallow water with hard plastic skeg. May consider getting a spare one just in case of damage. Worried about long term durability of the plastic air pump (red version) especially with the quarter turn hose connection, but nice with the dual action. With our fill values in the stern found it best to start folding up from the front to the rear to help get the air out of the chambers. (This is a very condensed version of a positive review)

Our kayak is now 6 years old. We took it on the lakes of Arkansas for multi day trips, then paddled over 100miles in it show more... from Key Largo to Key West in 9 days. This was made possible by the deck we built for the kayak, maybe an option sea eagle should develop? We now use it on the Mediterranean sea in France. It's a great Kayak, very well made. We had two small leaks in 6 years that we fixed, probably due to transport while folded. It is big enough to bring camping gear for multi days trips, Without a deck, it can take a lot of water in choppy conditions, so whitewater and waves have to be avoided. With the deck, we've kayaked in 3 to 4 ft swell without any problem Wind has a big impact on it. It does great facing the wind, but turns when the wind comes from the side. Really challenging when kayaking alone. A perfect boat for flat water! And for long distances, really fast for an inflatable (2.5 to 3mph) We have videos with it on our YouTube channel: fartherout to see it perform in real life

The 473rl , it took a little time to get used to getting the balance but after that everything was great easy to inflate with show more... a 12 volt pump which I highly recommend 👌, paddling is very easy then seaeagle had a article about a small 12volt motor 👍 I am all in on that it works great I highly recommend it worth every dollar, on letting the air out is ez but getting it into the bag 🎒 not ez they need to make the bag a little bigger please send me a larger bag it will make me very happy 😀 on the whole I have had six seaeagle boats and I think this is the best one. You can thank kyack cliff for my purchase because I always watch his reviews he does a very good job on how the boats operate well that's about it, I am a truly seaeagle person 😊

I got the tandem kayak for my wife and I and we've had it for a year. The tandem kayak is a little large and show more... awkward to carry in it's backpack on your way to water but it inflates easily and quickly, is incredibly sturdy when inflated, and we've had a blast. It handles much more like a hardshell kayak than an inflatable and stores away neatly. I would but this again

We've really enjoyed our kayak. Goes together pretty easily and works great on the water. Only complaint is I've never figured out how to get
show more...
it back in the pack so neatly-it's always sticking out a couple of feet!

Hi Jeff, I recommend watching our instructional video as it really helps for getting the kayak deflated and back in the bag! - https://youtu.be/quNuRkXFQpU

The fabric is quality, so the boat holds up well I have had it for about 9 months now, i have used it alot. I show more... purchased it pre-owned from SeaEagle direct. Since it is 15 feet it is a bit heavier than i expected, but i got the wheels for transport and its fine...The stitch fabric inflates fast and is very durable and offers confidence its is almost like a hard shell kayak, but inflatable, the bottom protection and the forward and aft designs are great. Since it is fast and lower to the water, it can be a bit less stable than a kayak with more freeboard. We love it..delivery time was good, the boxes came a bit damaged but the contents were still ok, delivery service was responsible..Customer service is great at Seaeagle..I have a utility trailer i transport it on or sometimes put it on a tow rack when i go away for a week or so and kayak several days...I have even put it in my sedans trunk. I would recommend for anyone who desires 2 man kayak that is fast..I would buy again as my wife and i love it...

Having owned and used the Sea Eagle 473rl for 6 months now, I feel I can write a fair and honest review, starting first with show more... the pros. Fast delivery time. Superb customer service. Excellent engineering and build quality. The fact that my wife and I can kayak anywhere with any location accessible, due to this kayak's portability - is absolutely fantastic. Early on - we did have difficulty with installing and un-installing the footrests, and cleaning and folding up the kayak. However, after just a few times doing so, it all quickly becomes rather easy to do. First time out, kayak felt a little tippy, but we quickly settled into it, and found it to actually be quite stable. My only negative comment would be, after a couple hours paddling, I find the seat becomes rather uncomfortable. That can be resolved by adding a cushion or other padding onto the seat. With a 3 year warranty and 120 day money back guarantee trial period, I would highly recommend if you want to be able to take a kayak anywhere you want to.

Although we have 6 hard single-seat kayaks, we use our 473rl for long road trips where we stop for short periods of paddling. We can

even fit it in the back of our Prius C along with luggage and our dog and cat. The kayak handles well but isn't exactly nimble on turns with the skeg installed. So far we have never been able to install the foot pegs. I just modified the front pare by drilling out the rear support and drilling a hole in the rod and securing them with a pin.
Sea Eagle Reply:
I'm sorry you had trouble with your foot pegs. For any questions regarding set up feel free to reach out to our customer service team and they would be happy to instruct you on setting up your kayak.

I can only give a 2 star review for this kayak because of INCREDIBLY unstable riding. Without a stabilizer, I'm unable to ride this kayak
show more...
because it is super wobbly. I'm also not able to return it because it is past the return policy date. The motivation for purchasing this kayak was after watching a demonstration video on YouTube. After testing it personally, I have to say that it is a very unstable kayak for amateurs like myself and my wife to ride - I also recently watched another 473rl video and saw that experts also carefully evaluated the kayak as unstable. For others looking to purchase, I suggest you look at the "465ft FastTrack Inflatable Kayak" which seems like a safer option than the 473rl. I wish I could exchange. I have already spent $2,325.65 CAD(included tax, shipping ) for USED ONE. I'm so disappointed.
Sea Eagle Reply:
We are sorry this kayak did not work out for you. We offer an industry leading 120 day return period so customers can use the kayak and return it if they are unhappy with the purchase. Also we do state on our site the " the RazorLite™ kayaks are best recommended for intermediate and above paddlers." The FastTrack is also a great option for someone looking for a fast kayak with added stability.

Hi guys, thanks again for checking in. I would like to thank you all for building a high quality inflatable. We spent 3 weeks in show more... southwest Florida in January paddling the kayak. It was very easy to inflate and install the seats. The footrest were a little more difficult to install but got easier with time. My wife and I had never paddled an inflatable before, within 3 mile we felt very stable and understood the concept. The next day we paddled 8 mile down the calosahatchee river, best time ever. We had some light chop in the open water but never felt compromised. I had a concern about oyster beds and possible damage to the hull but that was unwarranted. I did have trouble packing it back into the storage bag to original state but I managed. I loved the way it packed in our Jeep Grand Cherokee, took very little space. I look forward to warmer weather in Kansas and putting the boat back on the water. All and all, we love and look forward many years of paddling in the473rl. thanks again.

We love our 473rl! It's perfect fort travelling with our 5th wheel. We're not spring chickens, but paddling is easy for the two of us show more... even in a strong wind the low profile and skag make it easy to stay on course. Only regret is if we'd waited to purchase we would have gotten a free electric pump with it.

We received our kayak back in the spring. It arrived weeks before it was expected to. Our first voyage was great. I managed to miss show more... read the instructions and inadvertently cause a small leak. Sea Eagle quickly came to our rescue and repaired the kayak at no charge. Since then we have enjoyed many hour in several location and I am reminded to once again to carefully read all the instructions. The photos are from our recent excursion to one of our favorite pubs where when one paddles there, you get a but off you first pint. The Pour house, Port Townsend, WA, USA. This kayak replaces our SE 330, Still working well after 20 years. Now with one of our children.

The kayak took longer than expected to arrive. When it came, it came in two different boxes. The kayak didn't fit in the carrying bag.

I tried to contact customer services more times than I can count. They finally answered saying they didn't have a bag available to fit the kayak. They then sent me a cheap $10 dollar big cargo bag that was pretty useless. The only reason I'm even giving them a 2 (instead of a 1) is because I do think the quality of my specific kayak is great. It is such a shame that the company and customer service is so bad. My best friend tried to buy the same kayak as mine and when his arrived, it was completely different than what he ordered. Not surprised. For the price tag of these kayaks, I would expect to have all pieces fit and proper customer service when something is wrong with the order/ a part doesn't fit.

Just finishing a trip to Bend Oregon, first summer with our 473rl. Did a 18 mile trip on the Deschutes River and some shorter lake show more... trips. My wife and I just love our kayak, we have had hard shells and one other inflatable, the 473rl is the best kayak we have ever used. Love the speed , finished the 18 mile river trip under 5 hours ( used to take 6 ). And the way we can get in and out of the boat very stable ( without failing in the lake or river ). Very easy to set up and take down and we can take all our gear. We are both in our sixty's........ Thank you for a great product
