Classic 465ftc FastTrack™ Inflatable Kayak Reviews
Laraine Percoski
We've had this beast for one summer so far, solid boat! Tracks quite well with the keel. Easy to inflate/deflate, just make sure you dry show more... it before storage. No problem with connections, couplings so far. The custom pump works really well, and fast! You can run it with a battery jumper/booster, just make sure you get one with a 20A socket(most only have 5A or 10A, but you need 20A). The high-back seats and carbon paddles are terrific! The glue work is done very well. Everything takes up minimal space in our SUV when folded up. Just make sure you can handle hefting around the 50lbs it weighs if you get the big 3 seat yak. We usually pack a nice sandwich or two for a day on the ponds.

I have been out in the 465ft on a few lakes in Maine. As a single person, paddling the craft has been easy. With my show more... grandson with me, we just fly! It is supremely stable, has a ton of room, and the grandson likes fishing from it. I was a bit concerned with pulling up to an island in the lake - rocky bottom as we approached. The craft was just fine with no issues. Loaded up with seats is a bit difficult for one person, perhaps unwieldy is a better term. Inflating and deflating are no problem! I'm in my 60s and very pleasantly surprised that, as a female, I can manage it ok by myself! Definitely worth it! I'm having a great time out on my own!

Love our Seaeagle FT 465. Glad we got the 465 for the extra room for our pup and gear. Just got back from a Florida show more... vacation where the 465 was very stable giving us confidence to paddle on some bigger bays and some ventures out of the inlets along the shore ( calm days ). Even handled the wakes from the yachts of the Marco Island millionaires

We've had our 3-person 465 FastTrack for two full summers and couldn't be happier with it. We primarily use it as a double on lakes show more... and lazy rivers for myself and my near-adult daughter who experiences disability. Entering and exiting any kayak are challenging for her. However, the inflatable floor and sides are very stable, making the start and finish to our trips so much easier and safer. The risk of capsizing is minimal compared to a fiberglass or plastic double kayak. Once we're on the water, it tracks very straight and true, and it's easy to maneuver turns and reversals. Even on windy days, it holds course as well as any hard-shell kayak we've tried. The flat seats are not especially comfortable, but they sit low in the boat, which helps with stability. We supplement those with after-market gel seat-toppers to increase the cushion. The shell of this kayak is very durable - topside and underside - and holds up to repeated launches and landings. No regrets on this purchase whatsoever.

We've had our 465FT for over a year now. A couple dozen outings with no issues. Have had some minor scrapes with river blockages & show more... cheese grater boat ramps but were pleasantly surprised to not have any marks on our kayak. Lateral stability is much greater than we expected - more stable than rental kayaks & far more stable than hard canoes. Hydro efficiency of the hull seems comparable maybe better than rental hard shells that have been on paddle groups with us. Most of the time one of us paddling is enough for us to keep pace with solo kayakers. So far we've not seen any indication of delaminations or quality issues. Friends of ours who've had quality failures with their canoe have had very commendable, positive resolution from Sea Eagle. Only regret is that we didn't order the 3rd seat at time of original purchase. Our intent for the 465FT was to have space & weight capacity for paddle camping trips. Turns out more often than expected that a 3rd person is interested in a couple hours of local sightseeing.

We really like the boat. The only thing we don’t like is when you stop paddling the turns around backwards, that makes it uncomfortable to

drift with the current.

Thank you for the review. This can happen if the boat is not balanced correctly. You can try adding more weight to the center of the kayak.

My wife and I love our 465. Easy and fast to inflate, paddles and tracks well, easy to deflate and store away. No regrets!

Great boat, stable, very well designed and a lot of fun. Inflation/deflation and clean up is a bit more than it at first appears but show more... it is not complicated, just time consuming. Plan to continue enjoying it for years to come.

My Seaeagle experience has been great. The purchase went smoothly and delivery took place without any issues.
I purchased the electric pump, which makes short

work of inflation. The boat tracks great. We've had it in windy conditions as well as flat water. The boat is very stable and I can stand in it without any problems.
The canvas cover (the one you store the boat in) was subpar quality though. The first tug on one of the tightening straps ripped the d-ring and created a nine inch or so tear in it, making it kind of useless. Not being able to pack the boat down makes it very cumbersome. That's the only bad experience I've had with the boat so far.

My first boat ever was a Sea Eagle 9, I drove to Milwaukee to pick it up. For 4 years we dragged that boat all show more... over US and Canada, never had any issues till we melted it by being close to a fire. After that it was a 16 foot Starcraft, 16 foot Boston Whaler, 21 foot bass boat and the last one was 36 foot Carver, do you see the typical pattern here? It was fun but also plenty of work and responsibilities to manage all that so called fun. At 64 to simplify my fun I went back to Sea Eagle and picked up FastTrack 465. There is a reason why they call it FastTrack, its not just marketing, it is a well designed kayak, very stable, safe and tracks extremely well. I did review all other major kayak manufacturer's, yes in somes cases cheaper, but I am willing to pay for quality, performance and safety. Last summer we had it out 4 times, set up 10 to 15 minutes, take down 15 to 20 minutes, that is it. One advise, get the 465, yes it is bit more heavier and bulkier but you will gain a lot of space. Have fun like us.

We have had the best time this fall kayaking in this boat. When we first got it, we thought it was too big. But after show more... using it several times with our dog and gear aboard, it's the perfect size. Our dog loves the water and likes to jump in from our kayak. The 465 is stable enough to lift her back in without worrying about tipping. It's also tough enough that she hasn't hurt or even made a mark on the material with her claws. It takes little time to setup and tear down. Hauling it in our car is a huge plus. Would recommend and we would buy again.

We are really pleased with our Sea Eagle 465ft. It does everything we hoped it would do. It’s very durable, compact and functional.

Bottom line... This boat delivers as promised. I would not attempt to backpack into anywhere and haven't tried it white watering, but that is not show more... why I bought it. I bought it for floating down Missouri rivers. Day floats or overnights it works great. Very manageable by one adult sitting more center. You will definitely want the skeg in. And in shallow waters, the skeg will get worn down. Buy 2 skegs, they're cheap. Also, get the higher quality backrests, you'll be glad you did. Cheers!

This is a great 2 person kayak for Colorado lakes, while we use our travel trailer. thanks Ron

We love it, finally plan to be spending more time on the waterways throughout the U.S. We've only given it one test run in Arizona. show more... It was great and ur appetite for more has been wetted.

We love our kayak! It stays aboard our camper van, ready for launch in just a couple of minutes. It’s stable and comfortable and tracks show more... well through the water. We have recommended it to several friends. Thank you! I can’t figure out how to upload a photo. When I click ‘choose file’ or browse it just takes me to camera.

My wife and I have a special needs son that loves to do things with us in the great outdoors. The three person option of show more... the 465 worked out perfectly, plenty of room, not to heavy and a joy to use. The build quality is excellent and we feel very safe using the inflatable Kayak with our son on board. We looked at other options that were less expensive and not so safe as well as higher priced boats that were not higher quality, great investment for our needs.

I wanted a kayak large enough to hold myself and two children. I purchased the 465FT three months ago and have been out almost weekly show more... on the recreational dams in Southern California as well the ocean. Both alone and packed with three paddlers. I was leery about getting something this big since most of my use is solo but those concerns were unfounded. Loading/unloading for one person can be a tad clumsy but once in the water it is a joy to paddle and maneuver. Hint: pull out the floor and roll it separately - it is easier to pack tightly into your car at the end of the day. It is very comfortable and I love back and watching the sky while out on the water. You can't do that on many other kayaks. Highly recommended.

In July 2020, in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, my wife and I wanted to find a good way to spend some time on show more... and in the water with our kids. Growing up, my family had a canoe and a fiberglass runabout and I loved being on the water. My daughter was five and it seemed like a good time to start new adventures. We bought our 465ft and spent nearly every weekend on the Potomac that summer. The 465ft is big enough for three of us to use at a time. We plan to get another one soon! The boat is very fast and stable and can hold a bunch of gear for us to set up picnic areas. I bought the Watersnake Asp electric motor and found that we could get nearly 10 miles of range. This is an immensely capable boat. Even better, the kit from Sea Eagle came with very nice seats (we went for the 2 person pro package) and the very good AB40 paddles. Everything is very high quality. With just ten minutes of work with the foot pump, we were always ready to be in the water quickly.

My husband and I love our SeaEagle kayak. Very quick and easy to inflate and deflate and takes very little storage space. It's very stable show more... and we've even taken our fishing. Works great to dangle your legs over the side on a hot day! Purchasing our SeaEagle was a great decision. Can't wait for warmer weather to take it out to an area lake!

Purchased this last summer. The 465 is very high quality, easy to transport, and stores in my closet.

Kayak is great and we had a lot of fun. The inflator that came with it is terrible and broke within a few uses.

The 465F is perhaps one of the best inflatables there is. Tested it during a week-long trip to Boundary Waters. Unlike other inflatables, the 465F show more... goes in straight line when you paddle and is as fast - pretty much as a regular kayak. Where it really shines is fun and tough weather. Since it is inflatable kids (and not only) have jumped on it, used as an inflatable toy, had hours of fun, and 8 (4 adults and 4 kids) of us we even managed to stand up on it without sinking. We caught a little stormy weather on lakes - this inflatable felt much safer than our rented Wenonah kevlar canoe (3-seater) that was in danger of sinking (high waves) and tended to turn its side to wind. For longer multi-day trips 465 is really a 2-seater with space for luggage. What I wish is that it would have some attachment for easy carry by one person, like canoes do. I had to carry it over portages (up to ~1 km) and, while it is light enough for one person carry, it is not comfortable to be carried by one person.
