385fta FastTrack™ Angler Inflatable Kayak Reviews
Daniel Sylvester
I absolutely love my Sea Eagle 385fta. I purchased the fishing package with the swivel seat & 24 lb. thrust Watersnake electric motor. The kayak show more... hull is very strong and the build quality of the kayak is great. It's very stable and has lots of room for fishing with various gear. I travel to remote fishing locations with a truck camper so it's wonderful that I can fold this up to a relatively compact size and transport it inside my camper. My only negative is that the 24 lb. thrust electric motor is too small for choppy water. I subsequently upgraded to a Minn Kota 34 lb. thrust motor and couldn't be happier with the whole setup. If you need a portable fishing kayak I highly recommend the Sea Eagle 385fta.

I fish #KayakTournaments from my platform, Zi have two Tournament ready #385FTA's rigged the same way. I sent one in for a warranty issue. The show more... good folks at #SeaEagle didn't disappoint sent a new haul back with all of my add on bases factory sealed, greatly appreciated.

I always wanted kayak for fishing, but didn’t have the vehicle that would make transport possible. The Sea Eagle fit the bill. It’s easy to show more... set up and take down so I can get into the mangrove forests down here that harbor all the great fishing.

Just two important takeaways from my experience with Sea Eagle so far. 1) the boat is everything they say it is: well constructed, easy to show more... assemble/inflate, and great fun on the water. If you do not want the hassle of roof racking and storing a hard kayak, this is a terrific option. 2) Maybe as important, the company is very responsive and works quickly to help. In my sitiuation, I ordered the swivel seat, which somehow arrived damaged, most likely in shipping. All I had to do was send a picture of the damage, as well as the order form from Sea Eagle. I sent the information on a Friday and I received a replacement seat on the following Tuesday. Next year I'm in the market for a SUP, and Sea Eagle will be my first look.

It’s a fishing machine! Last summer I brought this rig on our family vacation to the Adirondacks and it revolutionized the way I fish. With show more... the outboard motor I could reach places in minutes, that ordinarily took a long time to row my packfish 7. The swivel seat is neat, but many times I just used the inflatable seat from my wife’s sea Eagle paddle board to save time. The floorboard is truly solid and stable to stand on, and the overall speed and maneuverability of the kayak were excellent. I could literally fish on this thing all day . I’m a die hard freshwater fisherman, and this set up does exactly what I need it to do. It’s perfect.

Easy, quick set up, with the electric pump. Stable in the water when entering/exiting, tracks very well. I am ordering the swivel seat for easier show more... fishing. LOVE OUR KAYAK!

Overall, the FastTrack Fishing 385 two-person kayaks I bought are great. The biggest factor for me was overall storage and ease of transport. I don't show more... have room for a trailer, and getting the kayaks to and from the water is very simple in the back of the minivan or my suv. We have two of the same kayaks. It fits my wife, three kids (all under 10), and myself very easily between the two kayaks. We have had zero issues with punctures to the hull, which is the biggest concern where we kayak and fish. Lots of trees and hazards in the water. The only drawback is the ease of modifications. I like to tinker a bit to see what helps, but most modifications require a solid hull and a drill point. I did make my own portage cart/dolly because most kayak carts don't consider the fin that is on these. I also made some booster seats to help be more efficient when paddling. I'm looking forward to using these for years to come!

I really enjoy the ease of set -up. It takes me longer to get everything I "need" in the kayak than it does setting out show more... and inflating it. I went with the professional low seat for ease of paddling, and they excel for stability and support for both recreational and trolling for the big one.

love my Sea Eagle easy transport, high quality, customer service 2nd to none.

I have used this kayak multiple times with friends & family, as well as solo, for days on the water and fishing. I love the show more... swivel seats and the convenience / quality of the kayak. I would highly recommend this inflatable kayak.

The 385 fta performs as described in the advertising, and is a very good inflatable. It tracks well and very fast on the water for
show more...
an inflatable.
Problem: The forth valve that fills the front chine is very difficult to get to. This real problem and annoying. Perhaps an opening in the cover directly over the valve would work.
Otherwise a very nice kayak.
Sea Eagle Reply:
Hi Jeffrey, I would recommend inflating the front keel first before the floor, this allows you to connect the hose to the valve much easier. Thanks for the feedback.

Great boat!

I absolutely love my boat. The stability of it is awesome. The stow ability is exactly what I needed. Unfortunately I just lost the boat show more... when our motorcycle caught on fire and it was close by. I will be ordering another one hopefully soon.

I love this kayak, I took it on a 2 day excursion down the Brazos River. I used a higher hardback seat and the stability
show more...
was great even in light rapids.
One design issue: I purchased the boat with the ability to mount a trolling motor. The state of Texas requires all boats with motors to be registered and to display the registered number on the front half of the boat. I ordered PVC compatible numbers/plate from boatnumberplate.com. Unfortunately, there isn't much clearance between the SeaEagle emblem on the bow making it difficult to display these numbers correctly. Please consider moving the SeaEagle emblem back a foot to give adequate clearance for this plate.
Sea Eagle Reply:
Thanks for the great review! An alternative to mounting the numbers directly on the kayak would be to stick them on a numbers plate, attach it to the d-rings and hang the plate over the side. This will keep the numbers from peeling off the kayak from inflating and deflating as well.

We vacation with our camper to National Parks and it's great that we can take kayaks that don't take up a huge amount of space. show more... They fold down into a small bundle with handles that can be stored in the camper or in the bed of the truck. To set them up, we just take them down to the shoreline, blow them up, and can be kayaking in 15 minutes or less. These kayaks are very stable, I can stand up in mine and fish, we even tried standing up and rocking them to try to tip them over and could not get them to flip. They are also a lot more comfortable than a hard plastic kayak. Instead of your legs rubbing on a hard piece of plastic, you are leaning on a soft side. We are very happy with the quality and design of the kayaks.

Love this boat. Fast to inflate/deflate, great in the water for one or two people. My biggest complaint is that the carrying bag isn’t fitted
show more...
with backpack-style shoulder straps. It’s hard to carry any distance with the handles.

Only one issue: the keel air valve is difficult to reach. I suggest an access flap in the bow cover or move the valve back.
Also, the inflatable seats I bought should have the valves already installed. I have tried to get the ring on several times and have not been successful. Seems odd that it would be up to the customer to perform such a difficult part of the assembly of your product.
Sea Eagle Reply:
Thank you for the review and feedback Rand. We leave the valves off to avoid any damage during shipping and storage.

The 385fta has performed well on several outings. No quality issues. I find that the rod holders on the rear are not very useful for
show more...
the rear seating fisherman due to difficulty getting to the rods. Not a big deal but something mounted forward of the rear seat would be nice. Overall I am very satisfied and would recommend this particular boat and Sea Eagle in general.

Great kayak all around. No complaints, very happy with the decision to buy it.

We have this and another like sized competitor to carry in our 5 th. wheel traveling. Both inflatable are in the same price range. We show more... also own 2 SOT boats, we have had 8 different kayaks over the years. After using the inflatables, the Sea Eagle 385fta has proved to be the superior boat. This is due to less rocker and a lower profile which ensures it tracks well. Also the slightly deeper rudder keeps it on track. We also paddle w/ a 50 lb. active retriever and have been out together in 15 MPH winds w/o any fear of rolling. This is not true of the hard shell SOTs. Also the gator skin has prevented any leaks. I rate performance @ about 85% of my 15' SOT, this has better stability at the cost of speed. It is faster than expected , not bad at all..

Iam happy with my boat

Awesome kayak plenty of room for two people, very stable, easy to set up,

This is a great little boat. Assembly is quick and easy after a bit of practice. It’s stable on the water, feels solid and definitely show more... is worth the money to me. The swivel seat was not as comfy as hoped for my aged body. So I built my own . It incorporates a stadium seat and the motor mount all in one. For me, the result is lighter and quicker to rig than the original. - Nothing wrong though with the original. - I have been out on the water a few times now and am actually catching fish.

I love this boat! It is easy for me to set up and tear down in 10 minutes, and I’m a 135 lb woman. It’s show more... very sturdy and resilient. I get so many questions and compliments about it when I take it out. My one criticism would be that the rod holders are too flimsy to be useful, and it seems like an easy fix would be to provided harder plastic components that can be inserted into the rod holder slots to add some strength to the setup.
