First of all I can't tell you how much I enjoy this kayak. When I started looking for a kayak, at age 65, I needed something that I could manage, move around, with just me and my wife. The Sea Eagle 385 FastTrak, all bundled up, it's about 35 lb. We travel with a small teardrop trailer so I needed something compact and most of all I wanted something with me wherever I went.

The next thing I looked for was durability, again at age 65 I didn't want to have to swim across the lake because my inflatable ruptured. I didn't want to pool toy, I didn't want something cheap that I'd have to replace next summer. The fast-track 385 has a custom front keel that really keeps your boat going straight so all the energy you put into each stroke goes forward instead of left and right. Ordered SE330 Sport first which I enjoyed for 3yrs.Ordered the 385 in 2020 during pandemic and received in late fall after they

were back in stock. Got to use it 4 times before weather here in central NY turned too cold.Have used it just once this spring.

The boat is very stable, I haven’t stood up in it but I know I can. It moves along the water great and the cross stitch floor is solid and does not sag or bend. We’ve taken it out mostly in the Newport Harbor in California and Mission Bay. The set up is quick with the foot pump. It would be nice if the attachments were removable since they kind of get in the way of connecting and disconnecting the pump. I cut my finger twice until I got used to it. The carbon fiber paddles make a big difference in weight and hand comfort. The bag is too wide for putting on your back and hard to fit everything so we use a large duffle bag for the gear. It works great because we take the duffle in the boat and put everything in it so I can carry it and it makes the kayak light enough for my wife to help carry from the water. You should take the drop stitch bottom out of the kayak when drying it out or it won’t fully dry out, but it’s very easy to do.

I would definitely buy another one and my son is considering one.

This boat does everything I wanted it to do -- and have loved paddling on the calming near shore waters of the San Francisco Bay. It's sturdy, stable, easy to set up and pack up. My husband and I have loved how much freedom there is to explore the bay. The only reason this boat is a 4 rather than a 5 is the poor quality of the inflation hose. It's brittle, and we've had to replace it after just two months of use. SeaEagle happily replaced the hose, but it's with the same type.
