UNBELIEVABLY Rugged: HIGH-PRESSURE FABRIC FOR OUR HIGH-PERFORMANCE BOATS
We use high-pressure fabric for our high-performance Explorer Kayaks, FastTrack Kayaks, PaddleSkis, Frameless Pontoon Boat, FoldCats, SailCat, Yacht Tender, and Sport Runabouts. The 1,000 denier woven base cloth gives tremendous strength and the PVC coating on both sides creates a waterproof, air-tight seal.
The triple-layer POWER of 1,000 Denier, Reinforced, High-Pressure Fabric:
Tough-as-nails Supported Fabric – Our tightly-woven base cloth is coated with several layers of a special polymer then fed through rollers under great pressure to force the coatings into the fabric creating a solid, waterproof, very tough material.
Omnidirectional Strength – Our high-performance boats can endure severe impact with sharp objects without puncturing. The fabric isn’t just tough; it has equal tear-resistance in all directions.
Quadruple Overlap Seams – We overlap all main seams with an additional layer of material above AND below for a total of 4 layers. At 36 mil each, the 4 layers together are nearly 144 mil thick — thicker than most other inflatables.
Long life additives – Our 1,000 denier high performance fabric is formulated with special additives to guarantee long term resistance to ultraviolet (UV) rays, gasoline, oil, and other chemicals.
The advertising claims seemed impossible. How could a portable pontoon boat that can be stowed in any RV (or car trunk) go from the carrying bags to the water in five minutes? How could a boat that doesn’t require nuts and bolts to assemble its frame provide adequate stability for two adults and their fishing gear? And can a craft that features two 360-degree swivel seats, four rod holders, oars, oar locks, a motor mount and accommodates up to a 3 h.p. gas engine possibly cost only $1,200?
Not only is all this true, but it also tells only part of the FoldCat story. Made by Sea Eagle, the new FoldCat is so well engineered and made — utilizing quadruple overlap seams and tough 1000 Denier hull material — that RVing anglers may jettison their other boats in favor of this 12’4” x 4’6” craft that can safely hold up to 650 pounds. Since the FoldCat is easily stowed, trailers and car-topping are no longer necessary. Since it has a very shallow draft, the FoldCat can maneuver in waters usually braved only by kayaks and canoes, yet it’s stable enough for two men to stand safely. With a 75-pound hull, the FoldCat weighs far less than other two-man pontoon boats and, unlike those vessels, it doesn’t have the same porous outer bags that tend to get waterlogged and harbor mildew. In fact, the FoldCat may be the perfect boat for RVers and anyone who appreciates the genius of traveling fast and light.

My wife gave me the FoldCat as a birthday gift — it was a complete surprise. I keep it inflated in a garage. We just pick it up and put it in the back of the pickup; it fits perfectly. My wife carries one side and I carry the other.

I have a camper that I tow behind our minivan and I needed a boat I could take with me. An inflatable boat seemed like the most sensible thing. I chose the FoldCat because of its light weight. My wife and I are both retired and I needed something we could pick up by ourselves.
Like Sea Eagle says, it only takes 5 minutes to assemble the FoldCat — not long at all from the car trunk to the water. And it’s not difficult; the FoldCat is very easy to assemble. The FoldCat has a stable platform for me to fish from. I have the smallest MinnKota motor you can buy and it goes through the water pretty well at high speed. I was real impressed by that.
Between fishing trips, I keep it deflated in my basement and throw it in the back of the minivan when I go out.
